These MC 30s have been serviced in the last six months and work extremely well. They run cool and extremely quiet.
The covers of the transformers have been painted. They have power on-off switches. Price is firm!
These Mcintosh amps brings a level of midrange warmth, detail and weight all with a greater degree of imaging.
You'll see a list of the serviced items at the end of the ad.
Lots of information available on the web. From my research, these are bullet proof amps that run forever with little fuss.
* Work performed during restoration *
Replace power cords with 3 prong.
Ground chassis properly.
Tested all resistors and replaced "out of value" ones.
Tested all capacitors for values and leakages at
maximum working voltages. (Heathkit IT 11).
Recapped both amps entirely, (coupling caps special audio grade).
Replaced power supply cap cans (new U.S. made CE).
Rewired transformer primaries to 125V AC taps.
Rebuilt bias supply (new N1007 diodes and load resistors).
Replaced defective hum balance pots.
Installed all tubes.
Verified all voltages in both amps were to Mcintosh schematic specs.
Cleaned gain pots.
Sanded and painted transformer covers.
Sanded and painted chassis bottoms.
Cleaned and shined all chrome.
Burned in both amps for 20 hours.
Tested all power tubes for plate voltages and current.
Listening tests over four days.
All tubes new and vintage tested on both my calibrated
TV7 AU and Hickok 533A testers for balance and quality (rectifiers),
matching, and quality (micromhos) all others.
